Today I looked with full attention at the apple tree. How was it coping? Any sap or other signs… what signs? Then a large group of sparrows in the bird bath sent splashes everywhere with their excited chirps. Was it the water still recovering from being frozen but with no ice that made them twitter? It was then that I saw the Camellia shrub in all stages of bud and bloom . It is February not April but lovely camellia you are a welcome distraction right opposite the apple tree.
This shrub has enjoyed the dappled shade from the apple tree in past years but this year it will be just what the tortured willow gives. I hope it will be alright with that.

I think some of us, like me, are prone to distraction. The aesthetics, the sites, the oddities, the annoyances all take us out of focus. Those are the times when i find that second of inspiration!
