Bergenia crassifolia and Lonicera nitida

At the exact moment Jesus died the temple curtain was torn in two from top to bottom; there was an earthquake…we no longer needed the priest to go in through that curtain for us. We could speak to Jesus our High Priest, who through the forgiveness of our sins makes us perfect in Him.

Matthew 27: 51 ( Sandy’s added words.)
The big spoon – shaped thick leaf,
Bergenia crassifolia and Lonicera nitida the small hedging plant.
I’m grateful for these.
The plants as I saw them this morning . They have managed the snow and ice of December and January .
The Bergenia is free of snail nibbles while the Loniceria hasn’t been affected by box blight as has the two box balls I had to carefully take out.

People think edges are bad, but they are really there to keep us from falling to pieces. They don’t hold us back, they hold us in. They hold us together.

Lisa Mangum 1974 ( American author of young adult romance.)

A torn jacket is soon mended, but hard words bruise the heart of a child.

Henry Wordsworth Longfellow 1807-1882 (American poet and educator.)

The thorns which I have reaped are of the tree I planted, they have torn me, and I bleed. I should have known what fruit would spring from such a seed.

Lord Byron. English Romantic poet.( He died in Missolonghi, Greece from a fever in 1824 at the age of 36 . ) He seems so young to be saying this. I wonder how life was treating him… I need to find out some time…
The meadow today with crinkled leaves Leaves curled by the weather ,
bulging veins and crisp edges.
Then fresh snow drops,
new this week ,
bowing to the aged leaves.
Clearing and preparing
this special space getting the care it needs for spring
A pleasure to see.

The day has been pleasant weather wise. I hope yours is too.

Sandy 🙂

  1. I love the quote about edges and we certainly all need the boundaries to guide us through life🙏🏻 Beautiful little snowdrops with the promise of spring👏 Thank you Sandy for sharing your thoughts too
