A Sabbath walk in Popes meadow

The Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.

James 5 : 11
The path that curves into the meadow.
It ‘s more red than brown in the evening light as it moves through the vibrant green.
The railings are all up and circling the trees.
Not that they have ever tried to run away.
Nor us or them harm each other.
‘Well times they are a changing’
A longer autumn, they say, with green still on the leaves.
The stress of the drought? Or
No frost having bitten yet?
I have just arrived and would like to know.
The oak that fell seems to be in mid – surgery!
A seat perhaps?
A limb still on the ground but chopped .
The wounded tree still standing
This is how I saw the trees.
This Autumn evening
in late November.
Sandy 🙂

” I hope I can be the Autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knows life was a gift.” Dodinsky

Thank you for looking at Popeswood meadow. It was good to see the trees again.

  1. I love this…. There’s something about big old trees – they’ve seen so much. If only they could talk.
