“Nature in Art” a few things that drew my attention. Gloucester

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. Psalms 23 :1.

Leaving the sheep to enjoy their morning. Cooler today after some rain in the night…
…we took roads to two miles north of Gloucester to Wallsworth Hall with…
a short stop and run for Bess.
A view from Selsley Common over the Severn Estuary… then into this lovely museum in Wallsworth Hall.

Nature in Art , the world’s first museum and art gallery dedicated to fine, decorative and applied art inspired by nature.

The cycle of flowers as seen in situ is lent to the museum by the artist Rosalind Wise (notice it starts in the centre with snow drops)
Rosalind Wise’s acrylic painting shows both wild and garden flowers in a spiral starting from the centre and unwinding outwards during the year, the cycle ending at the edges. This was taken standing really close. I had to pull myself away.

There were two artists in residence. Trevor Smith was free to talk to and I soon found out he was a teacher. His sketches are very close to his experience of place and time that he is with the bird. He depends entirely on them for his large paintings. He has published a book to inspire others to learn and he was happy to sign mine.
