An August  grouping of what I was working with in our garden.

God (the Father) loves you, because you love me (Jesus) and because you believe that I come from God. I came from God (the Father) into the world and I will leave the world to go to the Father.

John 16: 27,28
Today,  I cut the tall foxglove seed spikes. Then I shook them till they ‘shivered’ out their  little black seeds. It will be two seasons before these little seeds will have flowers again.

Next summer they will be small plants with a mass of well centered  spear shaped leaves. This is how they will go through  winter  and then thrust up tall white spikes of flowers in late spring.  I look forward to 2024.
The bouncing bess seeds has been wind carried in fluffy bits all over the garden so the stems and little branches are bare in the vase.
The white gladioli finished blooming early but their proud leaves pointing upwards are a continuation of the solid vase.
Poppy seed pods still in their green are with the yellow of dusty miller and pink drum sticks.
A different sort of August vase.

When people try to bury you, remind yourself you are a seed.

A seed neither fears light nor darkness, but uses both to grow.

When seeds want to rise they drop everything that is weighing them down.

Thank you for reading my post on the first day of the last month of summer.

  1. The miracle of the seed is just too wonderful. I have some lavateria (sp?) seeds I have to Mom that she never planted. I had them growing in Willowmore, so the seeds are about 35 years old. I wonder if they’ll grow. I’ll keep you updated😁
