Moses went up the mountain to receive the 10 commandments. He took a long time and the people became impatient. They asked for a bull calf to worship. They gave their earings and rings and it was made all from gold.

As Moses came down from the mountain carrying the precious tablets of stone (These tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on them) he heard the people singing and dancing around the bull calf: and he became so angry that he threw them on the ground and they broke into pieces. He then took the calf (bull) and ground it in powder… And the Lord plagued the people because they made the calf ( bull ).
