An afternoon in Girona at their flower festival.

Walking through rows of mature trees towards Girona from a 24hr parking site for Bugzy.
This is the main square, Independence square. This is where the Festival of ACapella music is being held this evening  as well as the start of the flower festival. The black flag with a white cross and star is the Tricentennial Flag.  It has an interesting beginning and a lot of meaning for Catalonia.
This flower festival is an annual event from 7-15 May . We are here 11th May 2022. At the same time Girona also hosts an International festival of ACapella Music. I wish the crowd would go silent and let us listen as I write this post this evening.
Walking towards the church this afternoon…
…where in the cool this instalation is still fresh and beautiful. 
It is 27 degrees outside… a challenge for outside displays.

…then to the towns Arab baths. Columns, cool stone work and white camelia in pots…
…then  down a few steps notice the cushion and lamp shade all made of flowers.

Then a story of loss. The burning of the rainforest in the cloister’s quadrangle and beautiful arrangements in the shade of the alcoves.
The acrid smell of smoke…
…in contrast with sweet smell of flowers.
Well walked streets of Girona  with the hubbub of Spanish voices falling and rising, as we all celebrated the beauty of the unusual combinations of colour and shape. The queues were long and Roy would queue for the next place as I enjoyed the last one.
