Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting all your cares upon Him ; for He cares for you.

Bright sun and then deep shade over sculptural Agave plants in the foreground. Shade is as welcome as the sun ! But to ‘throw shade on someone means to show disapproval or contempt for someone publicly but often indirectly.’Soap Aloe flowers The Afrikaans word for soap aloe plant is Bontaalwyn. This is a Southern African species. Sap from the leaves can be used as a soap substitute. The flowers are uniform in colour and I have tried to show them in their different stages.
Some Aloe puns
I tried grilled Aloe Vera at a restaurant today.
It was succulent.
Someone stole my succulent plant. That was Aloe (a low) move .
What does the succulent say when it meets new plants?
Aloe ( hello ) there.
None.
Mediterranean / Italian buckthorn (Rhamnus alatunus) This medium sized ever green shrub is growing here and there along the paths with its bright red berriesRosemary grevillea. The leaves are rosemary-like, rigid, linear and dark green with prickly tips. The rose-red flowers are dense clusters at the end of the stem. They are petal-less flowers with a colourful calyx tube and protruding style. They grow well in a coastal Mediterranean climate.Prickly pear plant and shadow of the pad (a name for the leaf). Notice the prickly bud. The plant produces fruit after 3 or 4 years. We loved to eat the fruit once it had been carefully picked using a tin can attached to a long pole and then peeled with a sharp knife and a fork. Too prickly to touch. If we had a lot we froze them and ate them on a hot day straight from the freezer.
Here we go round the prickly pear Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear At five o’ clock in the morning
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom

The green flower petals and red anthers and stamens of bottle brush. The curtains of flowers that divided our back garden from our neighbour’s as a child. Ah nostalgia !A drawing of an individual flower of bottle brush and then…… three brought to Bugzy to enjoy.
Yes the rosemary was a surprise. They had bottle brush blooming behind a low hedge of this red blooming rosemary. At first glance it looked like miniature bottle brush. Glad it brought back memories.🤗
