Darwin’s barberry in flower with grape hyacinths

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 122 : 7,8
The bright yellow/almost orangey flowering Berberis Darwinii is growing in a mixed low hedge around the pond. It is full of spikes.

Some people are like thorns/spikes . But you have to let them be thorns, because thorns can’t turn into petals. The trick is not letting them prick you ; never let a thorn prick you.

If you don’t feel the pointed things in life, you will soon take the soft ones for granted.

John Everson
The grape hyacinth with its bright blue bunches is a spring bulb that multiplies and grows anywhere its small bulb finds itself. These were also near the pond.
I went out to pick the flowers early this morning and then after weeding for a good while I noticed some of the berberis buds had opened with the warmth of the sun. Here they are.
