Green Alkanet

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For he have need of patience, that after he have done the will of God, he might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and he will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Hebrews 10:37-38
Green Alkanet has been growing in British Gardens since 1700. It has three local names bird’s eye, pheasants eye and water forget-me-not. It has blue flowers similar to forget-me-not. If you let it go to seed because you enjoy the small blue flowers you will have a garden full of it. I will have to dedicate a day or so to lifting it from our garden. The problem is it has grown up under the Narcissus bulbs which are in flower. Lifting it will disturb the bulbs. Solution – get it out now where there are no bulbs.
The veined leaf and intriguing white spots of the green Alkanet leaf. No chlorophyll in the white spots but why? Notice the little hairs to protect. I will soon have some gloves on and have to do something with a fork but I do think it is attractive.

Here are the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Rev 14:12
