A pint glass of Arum moculatum / Cuckoo plant / Lords and Ladies

The kingdom of heaven is like this. A man planted wheat seeds but while he slept his enemy scattered the seeds of a weed all over his newly seeded field. Only when the plants came up could the weeds be seen growing very close to the wheat. A servant suggested they do some weeding. “No, don’t do that! I don’t want the wheat uprooted and disturbed when you pull the weeds. Let both grow together. At harvest time I will tell the reapers to gather the weeds first and burn them. Then I will gather the wheat into my barn.”

Matthew 13 : 24 – 30
Bulging veins on a leaf faced away. Leaves of rounded or pointed hearts and wavy edges. All these are from the same plant. With all these names it is a weed. It grows in woodlands and hedgerows and can become established in gardens. If you don’t want it, pick the red berry stalk and burn it.

Here are some proverbs about weeds:

A man of words and no deeds , is like a garden full of weeds.

English and Italian proverb

If you let the weeds grow for a year you will need seven to clear them.

German proverb

Arrogance is a weed that grows mostly on a dunghill.

Arab proverb

Well here is some advice for me. ‘Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds ‘ and a little kinder ‘ don’t let the tall weeds cast a shadow on the beautiful.’

  1. That Arab proverb 😂. Those are such pretty leaves; pity they’re weeds. Such wisdom in this post …
