Day 12 South Africa Impala spoor and dung then the road between Tzaneen and Hoedspruit

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5 : 3
Impala in the distance of green the soil and their bodies blending
…their spoor and dung

Catholic scholars coined the phrase “God’s preferential option for the poor.”

Here are three advantages:

1 The poor know they are in urgent need of redemption.

2 The poor know not only their dependence on God and on powerful people but also their interdependence with one another.

3 The poor rest their security not on things but on people.

The Beatitudes that apply to the kingdom of this world:

Happy are the pushers: for they get on in the world.

Happy are the hard boiled: for they never let life hurt them.

Happy are they who complain: for they get their way in the end.

We saw several of these hippo warning signs on the way. We stopped on the side of the road to take this picture.
Miles and miles of orange groves. Taken through an open window while travelling at 100km/hour. Sorry about my finger but I thought I might drop the phone.
Banana plantations taken in the same way
Thatching grass and tall straight eucalyptus trees growing in well planted rows ready for the nearby saw mill.
The protective outstretched limbs of a tree also taken while travelling past.
Forest fever tree. The leaves and bark are used to treat malaria hence the name. It can grow 2m a year. Tall and straight with a group of big leathery paddle-shaped leaves at the top from 50 to 100cm in size. This tree was higher in the mountains, 30km from Tzaneen, where it is normally misty and rainy at this time of year but it was perfect today and a good place to rest and eat.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
