Loreto Italy

Let love be without concealing one’s thoughts, feelings or character. Hate what is evil and hold tightly to what is good.

Romans 12: 9 (Sandy’s understanding)
We then enter an Arch .
The fountain of Maggiore and entrance to
…the Cathedral of Loreto.
All in the far distance.

Art used to be made in the name of faith. We made cathedrals , we made stained glass windows, we made murals…

Julia Cameron ( 1948 American teacher and writer. )

The Cathedral of Loreta is the collaborative work of generations of renowned Italian architects, artists and painter.

Here in Europe the art of stained glass reached its height between 1150 and 1500. During this time magnificent windows were created for great Cathedrals and this one in particular.

I hope you can enjoy for a moment their beauty. Early this morning the sun was just right to capture their individuality for us to see.

” The old cathedrals are good, but the great blue dome that hangs over everything is better.” Thomas Carlyle a Scottish essayist, historian and philosopher said this. He sparked the thought that individuals not social forces shape history.

Back in this cathedral you stand and look up at the strength in the painting of San Cristoforo con Bambino.
By Lorenzo Lotto 1480 born in Venice and died here in Loreto.
The story goes that Cristoforo carried a child across a river before the child revealed to him that he was Christ.
A glimpse of its grandeur in soft morning light .
We then left Loreto to swim in the sea.
…it is good to have our son with us . There he goes.

I miss our garden but it is wet and autumnal I guess. Thank you for looking at this post.

Sandy 🙂

  1. I would love to see those windows and that fountain in person. They are all so beautiful! I love the last photo of your son swimming in the beautiful blue water. Looks perfect!
