Harwich to Hook of Holand and an evening in Gouda

Up until now God has helped us.As your days are in number so you will have strength for them.

1Samuel 7:12, Deuteronomy 33: 25
Light, fluffy ,white and blurring to mist in a sky of blue.
The evidence of hidden power and motion.
We are on our way.
The Stena line runs 14 times a week. There has been a passenger service since the late 19th Century apart from a break during the Second World War. 125 years of being present!

Today the North Sea is a silver platter of sparkle with just a ripple on its surface.
A crossing from 9am to 5:15pm with a change of hour .
( about 7 hours 15 minutes)

The port of Harwich and Felixstowe are on the confluence of the river Orwell and river Stour. They are deep water North Sea seaports almost opposite each other but with Harwich in Essex and Felixstowe in Suffolk

Then to the town of Gouda.

The town of Gouda in Holland is about 30 miles from the Hook of Holland port and is known for its namesake Gouda cheese.

Walking towards the oldest gothic town hall in the Netherlands built in 15 century, listen to town bells and notice the distinctive red and white shutters.
Aged gouda has a rich, nutty, caramelly taste, a little like butterscotch.

Age is not important unless you are a cheese.

Helen Hayes
A bowl of gouda soup with bread and butter.
Served with a teaspoon and a table spoon.
A new experience.

The clever cat eats cheese and breathes down holes with baited breath.

W.C. Fields

And

You can’t make everyone happy. You aren’t cheese.

It has been good to have a break but it is also good to be back reading posts and ‘putting things together’ . Please feel free to join us on our way to Greece.
