A hyacynth and daffodil bud

… Look , now is the appropriate time, the day of Salvation…

2 Corinthians 6 : 2
Shall I observe the critter for several days or just the flower?
Today I shared this photo with my friend
"Nice " I thought she said "but do you see its friend?"

Back into the garden I went.

I saw the hyacinth's friend looking up at the early morning droplets
Did I...
put it on a neighbour's flower?
turn it into compost quick?
put it in a wild area???

I wonder what you do?
All gone!

All the flowers from 18 months ago hanging, lying, standing
I put them all out for compost
No more heads of cardoon, little Italian straw flowers, sunflowers and a lot more!
All gone!!!
My work space is clear.

Here are some sayings for compost:

Earth knows no desolation. She smells regeneration in the moist breath of decay.

George Meredith

Kings and cabbages go back to compost, but good deeds stay green forever.

Rick DeMarinis

The gardener knows how to turn garbage into compost. Therefore our anger, sadness, and fear is the best compost for compassion. / I consider failures to be the compost that feeds the better and best that is on its way.

Kayla Mueller / Tim Johnson

Our garden has no daffodils in bloom yet,

but

for this one ,

showing

yellow.

It too collected early morning droplets from night’s frost.

But no caterpillars here.

” A flower is no better when it blooms than when it is merely a bud; at each stage it is the same thing – a flower in the process of expressing its potential.” Paula Coelho

Now here is a film :

The Pilgrim – Story of Paula Coelho

This is my quick summary: (how dare I summarise such a life?).

Born 1947 in Brazil now living in Switzerland. At 17 Coelho’s parents put him in a mental institution for three years. He says it was to keep him safe. Then law school for a year for his parents. Next for himself, a hippie travelling Africa, South America… got involved with the occult and drugs … composed… married in 1980… did a pilgrimmage in Spain… he is now doing exactly what he wanted to do all along write.

We have to look at our own inertia, insecurities, self- hate, fear that, in truth, we have nothing valuable to say. When your writing blooms out of the back of this garbage compost, it is very stable. You are not running from anything . You can have a sense of artistic security. If you are not afraid of the voices inside you, you will not fear the critics outside you.

It is sunny for us today. Take care.

  1. Love that peeking daffodil! It’s really too early for us for daffodils, but I saw a small grouping bloomed at the refuge two days ago. 🙂 The first daffodil blooms I see every Spring remind me of my Mom and her love for them. A call was made on who saw the first daffodil bloomed! One of my sweet memories…. 🥰
