A walk at Cliveden along the Thames

Put all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5 : 7
The mist hung around through most of the day.
Its damp stillness reigned with mysterious calm.

Any ripples there were ,were forced by a few duck landings.
A quiet part of the winter Thames.

(The picture is one we saw of a group showing where paintings had been done.)
A full bank of harts-tongue fern.
Tree reflections.
Easier to share their height in the water than up in the sky.

I know it is not Christmas but with all the trees bare it was easy to see bright, green balls of mistletoe. Seeds joyfully spread by the birds and growing high up. The reflection of the tree on the right is one example of many.

There is a story connected to the name of the black fungus. King Alfred who lived in the 9th Century was trying to escape from the Vikings overrunning parts of Britain. He took refuge in the home of a peasant woman who asked him to watch over her cakes, baking by the fire. He left them to burn and was scolded by the woman. It is said he was embarrassed and ashamed. He scattered the cakes!

King Alfred’s cakes.

I hope today was good for you.

Sandy 🙂
