The apple tree

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy…

Hebrews 12:1
The crown of the old apple tree.

The story goes like this. Between the apple tree and the tortured willow the two trees had the garden covered. Good shade for some plants and not enough light for others. A leafy cover for the hammock. But…

The apple tree needed a prune.

Roy went to buy a chain saw blade .

” Sorry not the season . You can order.” He ordered.

Yesterday evening a tree surgeon knocked. We had heard him working somewhere behind our home. Yes, was the answer after a price discussion. He got the job. What job?

A crown removal!

I thought a prune. They advised pollarding. We have had it like this once before. No apples that year but in the second year the apples were great.

“Crownless” the old apple tree.
More light, less tree, a hope of new growth.
No apples this year.

The buckets still protecting the daffodil plants.

A termagant

Or

curmudgeonly man! Our apple tree?!

( Just had to use these old out of date words found while working on this post. Their meaning is : angry old woman and man who is mean spirited. Our tree mean spirited . Never.)

Ah, I hope not! I love that old apple tree. How does it really feel? Here are some thoughts about pruning and then a thought about dizzy .

No one likes the process of pruning and the pain of loss, but fruit only grows on new wood.

Leonard Sweet (1961 American theologian ,historian, pastor, author.)

With ideas it is like with dizzy heights you climb : At first they cause you discomfort and you are anxious to get down, distrustful of your own powers; but soon the remoteness of the turmoil of life and the inspiring influence of the altitude calm your blood, your step gets firm and sure and you begin to look for dizzier heights.

Nikola Tesla ( 1856-1943 He was born in Croatia and died in America. He was an inventor who contributed to the design of the modern alternating electricity supply system. He was both an electrical and mechanical engineer.)
I hope he/she lives Apple-ly ever after

Thanks for sharing the pain. Oh dear, no pain, no gain. I will stop now.

Sandy 🙂
