Gladioli seed pods and a hazelnut catkin

Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Proverbs 3:7
The hazel nut unrecognisable!

Your fluffy yellow long, thin pollen carrying catkin and then small spider pink flowers higher up.

You two enjoy the months of February and March.

Hard, brown and crunchy is your destiny.

When cracked an open treasure of rich delight, nourishment!

Sandy🙂

Empty gladioli seed pod.

Empty gladioli pods in a vase. From the gladioli in the bucket. One that came from Dad’s garden . Empty structures now, skeletons . A memory of white sentinel flowers and two people .

The hazelnut trees/shrubs grow in amongst the ornamental shrubs a nuisance in some places and loved in others. Their sticks are cut when leafless and saved for guiding the climbing plants. We have plenty of those sticks.

A vase with curling gladioli leaves and drooping yellow catkins. Then towering high the remains of two gladioli flowers.

‘We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are a gift from the Universe (Sandy says God) that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.’

Gary Zukhar born 1942 American teacher .

Everything can be taken away from a person but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Victor Frankl 1905 – 1997 (He was a Jewish Austrian Psychiatrist who founded logotherapy. His autobiography ” Mans search for Meaning” is based on his experiences in various Nazi concentration camps.)

Thanks for looking at this thought with the help of the garden.

Sandy 🙂
