Purple Hyacinth

God is our refuge and strength a very present help in the time of trouble.

Psalm 46 : 1
A hyacynth bulb planted slightly above the ground.
It has started early .
Very early.
A gift a week ago and today
Christmas day
a flower from deep down where the bulb breaks the ground to the …
… tip top of an unopened bud .
A cone of purple bell-shaped flowers. They have a powerful floral scent with sweet spicy notes.

As the seed(bulb) buried in the earth can’t imagine itself as an orchard or hyacinth, neither can a heart packed with hurt imagine itself loved or at peace. The courage of the seed is that once cracking, it cracks all the way.

Mark Nepo (poet, story teller, teacher)
Purple is red and blue.
Red is energy and power.
Blue is peace and tranquility.

” The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.”

“Yesterday and tomorrow cross and mix on the skyline.
The two are lost in a purple haze.
One forgets , one waits”
Carl Sadburg

Early bloomers enjoy many advantages in different societies. But one huge disadvantage they face is that by dint of their youth and accomplishments, they give themselves credit for their success , more than the rest of us do. That’s understandable: adolescents and young adults tend to be self-centered. The problem arises when early bloomers have a setback : they either put all the blame on themselves and fall into condemnation and paralysis, or they blame everyone else.

“Every stage in life is another kind of beautiful.” Cindy Joseph. (She was a model who only started working as one , at the age of 50. She was modeling until weeks before she died at the age of 67. During those few years she started a company “Boom” making makeup to compliment age and not to disguise.)

I hope Christmas for you has had peace with a seed of energy planted deep within.

Sandy 🙂
