Pressed corn flowers

Oh how deep and rich is the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements, and His way past finding out!

Who has known His mind?

Who has been His counsellor?

Who has first given Him anything?

For of Him,

through Him,

and to Him

Are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen

Romans 11: 33 – 36
They slipped from a thick book
Intense blue and paper thin
Cornflowers put in a book
The last week in June.

Covid 2020

Grey green branched stems when rising from the ground

If cut above a node they come again with blooms of shorter stem
If left they will reseed.
Protocyanin a pigment
Blue in Cornflowers and red in roses
Strange that!
A plant known here since the iron age and admired by my Mum-in-law.

Mum carried them down the aisle on her wedding day
Her mother's hands placed them on the three - tier cake she had baked for her daughter's special day.

Then when her groom lay down to rest five years after her
There were only 11 of us at his funeral.
His close family.

The covid rules weren't broken by the Cornflowers
They spread their blue through all the other flowers.
A natural mixinging

A celebration of life well lived with love and trust.

Paper thin Blue Cornflowers that slipped from a thick book.
Our flowers for Dad .

Thank you for reading this post. Sandy 🙂
