Twigs and webs

Those who live in a place known only by them and God, a secret safe place of relationship. These will say of the Lord : ” He is my refuge and my fortress I can trust Him.”

Psalm 91: 1,2 (Sandy’s understanding.)
Twigs can’t stand in shallow sand
These three interlock and hold each other up.
Their small ends snap so easily frozen solid now
Their white frost soon turned to a wet sheen.

As Tecumsch said: ‘A single twig breaks, but the bundle of twigs is strong. ‘

I can say a bundle can hold each other up.

With us being away for so many weeks the wash line has at least seven large spider’s webs. Here is one.

A frozen Web. No spider!
Isn’t that your cry I hear?
Spider where are you? The kitchen?
Yes! Behind the door.
A spider has different glands producing different strengths and stretchiness of silk.
Each is used for a different purpose:
the web frame,
sticky strands to catch and then a different one
to
cover eggs.
It is said that silk from the golden orb spider is stronger than steal but fifty times as light.
Humans still don’t know how to make a material this strong, this stretchy and light. (a summary from Andrew Walker, The University of Queensland)

Humankind has not woven the web of life

We are but one thread within it.

Whatever we do to the Web we do to ourselves

All things are bound together.

All things connect.

Chief Seatle (1790-1866) He was a Suquamish and Duwamish chief. A leading figure among his people. The city of Seattle, in the US state of Washington was named after him.

Then just a thought from Alison Gopnik (a Proffessor of Psychology) which I identify strongly with.

” On the web we all become small-town visitors lost in the big city.”

It is good to know we are all out there known by our posts. Thank you for looking at mine.

Sandy 🙂

  1. I’ve never seen a frozen spiderweb. That’s truly stunning! I really appreciated the line “a bundle can hold each other up.” It’s so important to remember we need each other.
