When I bought it this past summer it was so small I put it in a pot. I knew it was hardy but I didn’t want to lose it in the crowd.
Some call it ‘hot lips’ and with no other flowers around it certainly is late with its colourful flowers.
Some people are late bloomers and come to particular stages at a relative late stage. You have to have a feeling for where you are. You only have one life to live and you don’t have to live it for six people.

Judging by the flowers and some very soggy leaves it has been on the ground for a long time.
I took the thickest part of the stem and made a cutting carefully putting it in a pot of ground.
The rest of its summer growth is in the trug.

The summer and autumn ,
the late bloomer and the broken. Together on a cold December day.
