Salvia microphylla and sedum

Jesus said : ” My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God ; and do it. (Always with His help.) ” Submit yourselves to God . Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Luke 8:21 … James 4:7
Sedum and Salvia in a rusty trug.
Salvia still blooming in the winter garden.
When I bought it this past summer it was so small I put it in a pot. I knew it was hardy but I didn’t want to lose it in the crowd.
Some call it ‘hot lips’ and with no other flowers around it certainly is late with its colourful flowers.

Some people are late bloomers and come to particular stages at a relative late stage. You have to have a feeling for where you are. You only have one life to live and you don’t have to live it for six people.

Joseph Campbell

No one becomes a late bloomer doing something they hate.

J.M Orend

Late bloomers tend to be circumspect: they are able to see their own role in the adversity they face, without succumbing to self-condemnation or blame shifting.

Richard Karlgaard
Then there was this broken branch of sedum.
Judging by the flowers and some very soggy leaves it has been on the ground for a long time.
I took the thickest part of the stem and made a cutting carefully putting it in a pot of ground.
The rest of its summer growth is in the trug.

Here are some thoughts about being broken:

Love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify.

Washington Irving. American writer 1783-1859. He was engaged to Matilda Hoffman in 1808, but she died of tuberculosis before they married. Irving was devastated and never married. This is what I found that he said about his brokenness. ” For years I could not talk on the subject of this hopeless regret; I could not even mention her name; but her image was continually before me, and I dreamt about her incessantly.”

But then Jean de la Fontaine says:

” Sadness flies away on the wings of time.”

Little bits of both these plants in a miniature jug.
The summer and autumn ,
the late bloomer and the broken. Together on a cold December day.

It is getting really cold this week. The flowers may not survive . Thank you for looking at my post.

Sandy 🙂
