Frontino

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14 : 27

A small village locked in a time of quiet and peace with a warring noisey past.

An intriguing village
A mountain village
You go up to come down
Once up there are stories on the walls
These two men were at each others throats as the story goes
There names are quite a mouthful:
The Duke of Urbina, Federico da Montefeltro and
The Lord of Rimini, Sigismund Pandolfo Malatesta.
Their aim was to maintain as many territories as possible.

On the night of 8 November 1451 when all was quiet and children slept.
Lord Malatesta's soldiers krept inside the castle of Frontino and blocked all the entrances to the dear people's houses.

Except for one!
A Mum of a pregnant daughter wanted to tiptoe out into the night for one more check on her child awaiting child.
She saw them.
She saw them before they saw her and they hadn't blocked her in.

She got the message out!

The battle commenced from the sky.
The battle of the terracotta roof tiles.
Malatesta's soldiers had to retreat!
Two dead,forty wounded,
Five taken prisoner and executed,
One taken prisoner to tell the story to Duke Fedrico!

The reward for their bravery
Ten years of tax free living!!
Up and down we went until we got there.
Plants in any small pot or place.

Thank you for looking at small Frontino with its big story. Take care and be at peace.

Sandy 🙂

I leave you with two sayings about war and two about peace they are not mine. I don’t know who said them, maybe you do.

Only the dead have seen the end of war.

Older men declare war. But it is youth that must fight and die.

Peace cannot be kept by force . It can only be achieved by understanding.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.

    1. Yes, those houses had under ground escape tunnels too. Some still exist but others have caved in. A place that coped with family fruction as can be seen in my next post. The two families are the same.
