A cycle around the city of Reggio Italy.

Heaven is a ceaseless approaching to God through Christ… As we walk with Jesus in this life , we may be filled with His love, satisfied with His presence.

EG White (1827-1915 American author. Desire of Ages pg 331)

It was 11am and we were cycling in the city of Reggio.

I was jealous, a little yellow
Not about the architecture or the large well stocked street markets in the well proportioned squares
But about the people.
They stopped.
They greeted.
They lingered.
They looked at each other.
They touched!
I wanted to talk too and be talked to!

We are foreign .
We are strangers.
We are travelling.

Then a yellow autumn leaf fell on my helmit
Slipped onto my handlebars and I thought.

I love travelling being neither here nor there BUT
A little sad and lonely today.

Sandy🥲
Lovely lady she first met him , their encounter was so close.
…then her and a younger lady pushing a bike had a chat and she encountered another lovely couple. Chatter of the light friendly kind. But then notice how she is looking directly at him with important information that makes him stoop towards her with his hands behind his back. Something shared in the sunny streets of Reggio.
He is on his phone I hope it is to someone nice! Others sitting at tables.
A market in the square.
What is that church?
More of the same or different?
Then these two off their bikes in the middle, sun casting bike shadows on a cement paved road. The gentle pink and sienna of buildings their bikes are pointing in the direction of. Are they going the same way? But spending a little time to chat.
A lone man in red. Awe struck?

I think we will leave the people of Reggio .

Their green, white and red. The Tricolore.

Their palest of buildings, gray and light beige and a combination of these. Then sudden sienna. I liked what I saw but it was the yellow leaf that brought me joy.

Thank you for spending a little time with me in the city of Reggio, as I road through/pushed my bike in its streets.

Sandy 🙂

PS Here are some quotes about friends.

Friends are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to hear the answer.

A friend knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

  1. You’ve captured so many beautiful things on your trip, but I really love the honesty of this post. There’s something about watching people in other countries that makes you feel a complex mix of longing and separation. I felt this walking in Paris. I longed to be part of the city and not just visiting it, but my awareness of self felt big and profound. The photo of the man in red surrounded by such splendor fit the theme of your post so well.
