Amaryllis belladonna

We have peace with God because of grace and so when the tough times come we learn patience. This patience helps us get experience and this leads to hope. Our hope is not embarrassed, because it is the Holy Spirit which is given to us. This is the One who sheds the love of God abroad from our hearts.

Romans 5:1-5 (Sandy’s understanding of Paul writing to the Romans.)
Amaryllis belladonna lily growing in the frame work of branches belonging to the hardy fuchsia.

It has rained heavily for two nights in a row accompanied by lightning and thunder. Yesterday I noticed this hardy fuchsia had dropped its leaves and there for me to see, were lilies I had planted when the shrub was well cut back. They may have bloomed every autumn for quite a few years but were covered by the fuchsia.

The belladonna lily is a perennial which grows its long stemmed flowers before its narrowly strap- shaped leaves. Each stem has an umbel (short flower stalks from a common point) of funnel – shaped, fragrant pink flowers.

“To bear with patience wrongs done to oneself is a mark of perfection, but to bear with patience wrongs done to someone else is a mark of imperfection and even actual sin.”

Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274 Thomas Aquinas Italian Dominican friar and priest.)
I took this at night as this black vase is reflective and distracting. In the vase is a stem of amaryllis belladonna, some twigs of tortured willow and wood spurge / Euphorbia amygdaloides.

“Patience is the support of weakness, impatience the ruin of strength.”

Charles Caleb Colton (1777-1832 English Cleric who said quite a few interesting things)
Wood spurge / Euphorbia amygdaloides

“Only those who have patience to do simple things perfectly ever acquire the skill to do difficult things easily.”

James J. Corbett(1866-1933 American professional boxer and World Heavyweight Champion.)

Gardening teaches patience. Sometimes I can be so patient I forget I have planted🤣🤣🤣.

Thank you for looking at my post.
