Stroud in Gloucestershire and bric-a-brac

A street in Stroud with tables of Bric-a- brac ( from French meaning ‘at random any old way’)
This is how Helen Keller used these words:
” When one reads hurriedly and nervously, having in mind written tests and examinations, one’s brain becomes encumbered with a lot of bric – a- brac for which their seems to be little use.”
My choice of bric-a-brac. A framed print with 45-76-314 River Harbour by Stage on the back. I liked its clean lines and simple composition. I put it in my bag for £2.99.
This is what I found out: Mads Stage was a Danish visual artist born in Copenhagen in 1922 and he died in 2004. A recognised illustrator around the world he is known for his idyllic paintings, but he also designed and illustrated post cards, posters, stamps, books and porcelain, among other textiles.

Another something to think about “Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art. It has no survival value, rather it is one of those things that give value to survival”.

C S. Lewis

The Stroud Canal.

Then a walk along the Stroud Canal built in 1779 and closed in 1954 . Notice the bright blue sky unfortunately the rain was fleeting.

The canal is 8 miles long and has a rise of 102 feet hence the need for locks. They are still working on restoring it.

The tow path of brown, pink and green.
An imaginative way to show the link between two water ways.

Study to show God that you really understand what you are reading. A student who is not ashamed because they can use that knowledge to know what is false.

2 Timothy 2:15

A little sample of our day visiting Stroud. What started as a rainy day then got hot again. We are on a farm CL site where the baas of the sheep are getting less as they settle for the night. A change is special as we are travelling. Thank you for looking at my post.

  1. Very beautiful scenery and intriguing history. “Bric-a-brac” I had never seen or heard that word before. We learn so much every day. 🙏🙏♥️♥️
