Nemesis and coleus

As a deer pants for water, so I want you God. … Especially when people say “Where is your God?”

Psalm 42: 1,3 (Sandy’s thinking about this.)
Nemesis / Cape jewels come in many colours and with
coleus and nemesis being in the same pot I can give both plants the same care that they need.
They need dappled sunshine, regular watering, moist but not soggy ground. They are certainly not drought resistant so a watering can will have to do. Outside the coleus will only last one year.

Here are various thoughts about drought:

Friends are “annuals” that need seasonal nurturing to bear blossoms. Family are a “perennial” that comes up year after year, enduring the droughts of absence and neglect. There’s a place in the garden for both of them.

Erma Bombeck 1927-1996 American humorist.

Violence is like a weed – it doesn’t die even in the greatest drought.

Simon Wiesenthal 1908- 2005 Jewish Austrian Holocaust survivor.

There are flood and drought over the eyes and in the mouth, dead water and dead sand contending for the upper hand. The parched eviscerate soil gape at the vanity of toil, laughs without mirth. This is the death of the earth.

T. S. Eliot 1885-1965

  2. What lovely little flowers. Never heard of them before. Love seeing what’s in your garden. Hope your weather has cooled off by now.

    1. Yes,they look painted especially the yellow bit. No, it is very hot for us here I have put bark chips around the flowering or new plants so I hope they will be OK. Thank you for supporting me my sister. πŸ€—

  3. One of my favorite scriptures through out all the years that I have had a relationship with Him. I was so thrilled to see the cape nemesis, they made so happy whenever I see them. I grew up in Hout Bay where they pop up on the pavement, all the fields and aii the vacant lots we gathered thistles from for our rabbits. It brings back so many good memories. And I enjoyed all your quotes about family, friends and enemies.
