The wheat has been harvested since we were here on Monday. At that time, we knew we were going to lead the Sabbath walk so we made sure we knew the way and walked it before we visited the house and garden. Not all of our group have passes for the house so we chose a path where we could all be together. The landscape was undulating with the paths sometimes in bright sunshine with open views and at other times tunnels of thick or dappled shade. Here these flowers were left after a wedding had taken place a few hours before. The programmes were left at the door and here are a few lovely words from one of them.

I do hope for the sake of the countryside we have some rain soon. Since we last walked on Monday the pools of water in the river have all dried up and in its place was an uninterrupted dark brown ribbon of dryness.
