A Sabbath of sleeping

As a father feels sadness for his children so does God feel sad for those who love Him. ( Psalm 103 :4 ) Jesus died for us because he loved us. We can only ask for help to love Him. Jesus prayed that those who loved Him and not seen Him would be helped to feel one with Him and the Father. ( John 17:20-22 Sandy’s understanding)

Between the tortured willow and the apple tree I slept.
My symptoms similar to many others in my country.
Covid negative but positively ill
No Sabbath walk!
While I slept the oil poppy opened and almostΒ  closed again
The cardoon sent out soft colour from the first of many buds
The white gladioli stood sentinel all the day.
Tonight I will sleep again!
A Sabbath gone forever.
Oil poppy
Cardoon grown from seed during covid 2020.
The sentinel, white gladioli .

Here are some quotes about sentinels from very different people.

The man who says his evening prayers is a captain posting his sentinels.  He can sleep.

Charles Baudelaire. (1821 – 1867 French poet, essayist,  art critic)

That morning  I experienced vividly almost subliminally, the reality of change itself:  how it fools our sentinels and undermines our defences, how careful we are to look for it in the wrong places, how it does not reveal itself until it is beyond redress how vainly we search for it around us and find too late that it has occurred within us.

Robert Gudren (1938 American philosopher)

Conscience is the sentinel of virtue.

(Johann Kaspar Lavater Swiss poet, writer, philosopher and theologian)

  1. Hi, Sandy, I love how the shadow & light hits the gladioli. Lovely photo. I do hope you’ll return to health soon! I appreciate the idea that Nature’s time goes on without us humans, as your verse points out. Many blessings, my friend! 🌞
