Day 12 Emperor Moths, black grape sized fruit the monkeys’ early morning feast and mapani trees, bark and leaves

Then the Angel showed me the river of life flowing from the throne of God and of the lamb… On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing 12 crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And its leaves are for the healing of the nations.

Revelations 22 : 1,2
The monkeys were difficult to photograph as they were arguing about the best place to catch moths and pick fruit.
The fruit in the thick leafed grass.
One of many emperor moths rescued from the pool at 6:30 this morning. It will soon join others in the mopane trees. ( Those not eaten by the monkeys).
Looking from inside out to a little forest of slow growing Mopane trees.
Mopane trees spread upward in a narrow V – formation with a sparse crown. But that crown carries something beautiful many…
…bright green butterfly- shaped leaves. These leaves are so distinctive that the tree is often known as the butterfly tree.
Just had to notice the colour and size of the Lichen.
The bark is light to dark grey in colour and has very prominent longitudinal fissures.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

Chinese Proverb.
