I kept a branch from the blog “Silk Tassels and laurel” 9 Dec. 2021. It is in a milk bottle towards the back. It kept really well in a few inches of water and in a cool place. The bottle in front has the small branch picked 5 Jan 2021.
The milk bottles are the property of Dairy Crest (70p for a bottle of milk). I need to return them at some time.🙂 I have weighted them down with beach pebbles as the twigs would otherwise topple them.

The full name for this plant Garrya elliptica is named after Nicholas Garry who helped to organize the North American expeditions for British plant hunters in the 19th century. Elliptica refers to the wavy-edged, evergreen leaves. It is an American West Coast native and is elegant, in an Edwardian kind of way. Vita Sackville – West included it in her planting of a north-facing wall with Morello cherry and winter – flowering jasmine.
