Viburnum farreri twigs in December bloom

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.

Ephesians 6 : 12
Viburnum farreri twigs in a tall unwanted vase, like an elongated egg. The vase has no markings but holds these 3 small branches well. It is a privilege to see such delicate flowers on bare twigs.
Notice the cluster of white flowers which started as pink buds. They are long lasting eventually developing into black berries which are loved by the birds. The leaf is oval with prominent veins. The young leaf is coppery in colour and a slight coppery tinge can still be seen on this one.
The deep pink of the buds of Viburnum farreri with a sweet gentle smell. Apparently Viburnum carlessi is one of the most gloriously fragrant shrubs known to man!
( That is a big statement I want to smell one of those๐Ÿคฃ)
Notice the perfectly formed lichen in palest of blue green growing on the branch below the buds.
It is such a grey day that I switched on the lights for this picture, hopefully it gives an idea of the shape and spread of the twigs in relation to the tall vase.

PS

On Friday morning when the sun came through we saw these 4 ancient oaks in Windsor Great Park .They seem so close to each other for their great size. The oldest tree still alive in the park could be 1500 years old. It has been named Offa’s Oak. I haven’t seen it! ๐Ÿ™‚ BUT these were impressive enough.

From twigs to trunks!

Terrible is the struggle that takes place between the forces of good and evil in important centers where the messengers of truth are called to labor. Till the close of time there will be a conflict between the church of God and those who are under the control of evil angels.

  1. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ I have to agree… old oaks are majestic.Today I photographed one oak five hundred years old. But almost the entire film remains to be shoted… so I have to wait๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน

      1. ๐Ÿ™‚when I take a picture of the negative one, it is called in 15 minutes. But the weather is really bad in our country now, so there is nothing to take pictures outside. Maybe I’ll try some home compositions ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน

  2. The textures on that old oak are marvellous. A photo of just the bark would also be amazing.
You brought spring into your house with that arrangement. I love simplicity.
